Writing From a Point of View

Good Morning, Readers!

Here is a thought for you who are creating a novel.

What point of view are you telling a story?

I've noticed that a lot of novels coming out and most of the best sellers are from the point of view of the main character instead of a narrator. Agents have been telling me they are looking for stories told from the point of view of the main character because that apparently is what readers want.

If you are having trouble with developing the point of view for your story check out the following tutorial from WRITER'S DIGEST.

Point of View: Whose Story is This, Anyway?
Part 1
Point of view (POV) is one of the issues most-often called out by editors, and can be a difficult skill for many writers to wrap their heads around. But solidifying your novel's POV can be easier than you think. Looking beyond current trends and some long-standing myths, we'll narrow the discussion down to a few simple but essential concepts that'll help you choose the approach that works best for your story Read More...

Horror Novels & Movies Sell: Write Them

Dear Readers,

How do you feel about horror movies and horror novels?

Agents have been advising me about--or encouraging me to try creating a horror novel. They sell. Readers like a good scare, and movie producers like them because they are cheap to film and carry a sizable fan base.

I do have a plot for a horror novel. I am working on organizing it.

Below is an article from SCRIPT magazine email. I invite you to click on it and read it.

Why Horror Movies Sell
This week's screenwriting tip is from Steve Kaire about the popularity of the horror genre.

Don't miss top Hollywood ghost writer Mylo Carbio's webinar on Thursday, July 13th on Writing the Game Changing Contemporary Horror Screenplay. You do not have to attend the live event to get a recording of the presentation.

By Steve Kaire

The horror genre has been with us since the advent of silent films. There seems to be a strong, unexplainable and innate reason people want to be frightened.

The reasons why horror films are so popular and successful at the box office are many.

Literary Agents to Query

Here Are 2 new Literary agent query.

2 New Agents Seeking Submissions NOW
Click on any name below to see the full mini-profile on the GLA Blog (with submission instructions). Good luck querying!
1. Maximilian Ximenez of L. Perkins Agency
He is seeking: Maximilian is actively pursuing clients for both fiction and nonfiction works. In fiction, he is acquiring science fiction, fantasy, horror, and thrillers, particularly cyberpunk and neo-noir as well as books with a uniquely deconstructive bent. For nonfiction, Maximilian is seeking popular science, true crime, and books pertaining to arts and trends in developing fields and cultures.
2. Hannah Fergesen of KT Literary
She is seeking : "I'm looking for young adult and middle-grade, as well as some select adult fiction. In young adult and middle-grade, I'm looking for speculative and contemporary stories, running the gamut from fantasy, mystery, horror, and magical realism to family-oriented dramas, historical fiction, and stories dealing with contemporary issues, such as mental health or addiction. I'm also very interested in finding a good, twisty mystery or suspense. If it's historical or has a speculative bent, even better. I am into contemporaries with light science fiction elements, as well as pure science fiction with politics and an edge, or a bold reimagining of another time. I'd love to see historical fiction in both young adult and middle-grade. In adult, I want weird and/or lyrical fantasies and speculative mysteries. I'd also love something with a good twist, like DARK PLACES by Gillian Flynn (GONE GIRL less so, but the idea is the same)."

Writer Resource July 5 2017

Dear Readers,

Did you have a good 4th of July? (USA readers)

Ours was quiet and somewhat peaceful. The tenants who live in the apartment above ours were noisy beyond reason. They kept throwing hard heavy objects on the floor and running heavily through the apartment. They are all enough to know how to behave.

Well, as for my post. Following is info from an email I found in my inbox. Check it out.
